Celebrating the colours of our flag in my own way! Here’s me, searching for music in our tricolour along with a mini rendition of the most popular patriotic song of our country which has been sung by my grandfather, Padmashri Mahendra Kapoorji. Happy 75th Independence, India! Jai Hind!
When I’m on the hills, the cold winds always whisper this song in my ear! There’s something about this song that is so beautiful & innocent.
The hills always have a story to tell, and this one is my favourite! This folk song is about a Himachali girl telling her mother that she doesn’t want to settle down in Shimla (her mainland) or in Kasauli, but wishes to go to Chamba as that’s where her beloved lives! Folk music is all heart!

It’s hard to put into words the feeling of meeting one of the greatest writers this world has ever seen - Sir Ruskin Bond! I am fortunate to get the opportunity to spend time with him, to listen to him and to learn from him but I am most fortunate to get his permission and blessings to compose two poems penned by the master himself! Words written by the living legend have to be adorned with music and the responsibility is on my shoulders. Excited and nervous at the same time. Let’s embark on this journey which has started up here in Mussoorie and see where it takes me.
A dream come true to record in A.R. Rahman sir’s studio where he has churned gems that have inspired a generation of musicians including myself! Felt surreal to be in the same space! What made it even more special was the collaboration with Rahman sir’s dream project to get an Indian Symphony Orchestra on the world map - The Sunshine Orchestra!
